Instructions for Birdie-Birdie

A timer or online stop-watch (to timebox the iterations)

Room with sufficient space for a table per team
Understand the basic Scrum process. Why are iterations, planning, and Product Owner communication important?

GOAL: Develop a final product in 4 sprints

Preparing the game

Print the instruction manual and a set of Birdie-Birdie User Stories for each team
-
Prepare the room in a cabaret setup, with each team having an own table with sufficient space to build with Lego
-
Distribute one set of User Stories and Lego sets per table

Playing the game

Divide your audience into teams of max. 5 team members per team and ask them to take seat
-
Introduce the Birdie-Birdie company context, explain the goal and rules of the game
- The games is played in 4 iterations to develop the product, each iteration consists of the following steps:

Planning: 3 mins

Building: 8 mins
-
Review: 2 mins
-
Retrospective: 1 min

Distribute the User Stories for the first iteration, set up the timer for each of the steps within the iteration starting with Planning (3mins)

Announce and start the first iteration

After the 3rd iteration, stop the game and announce that the money has ran out to complete the product
